Dr. Ishrat Husain, one of Pakistan’s most distinguished economists is currently serving as a Wilson Center Public Policy Fellow. Husain was dean and director of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi—the oldest graduate business school in Pakistan. He is currently professor emeritus at IBA and chairman at the Center for Excellence in Islamic Finance.

David J. Ranz is the Director of the Office of Pakistan Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and a member of the Senior Foreign Service in the class of Counselor. A career diplomat since 1992 focused on the Arab world, Mr. Ranz previously served as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, and Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and as Spokesman and Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.


Aisha Farooqui is the Consul General of Pakistan in Houston. Mediating between people, cultures and countries as a Diplomat of Pakistan since 1994, she has served in several important capitals abroad in her long and diverse diplomatic career. She has also contributed towards policymaking at important political desks in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.


Atif Khan is the Chairman and CEO of LMKR Holdings, founded by him in 1994. As an entrepreneur, businessman and investor, with an extensive background in oil and gas and information technology, his professional career spans over two decades working in the US, Middle East and South Asia.


Amber Jamil is the Executive Director of American Pakistan Foundation (APF). Amber leads APF’s mission to build lasting ties between the US and Pakistan, strengthen the Pakistani American diaspora and support development in Pakistan through multi-sector partnerships and integrated responses. She has previously worked for Amnesty International USA, DOST, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, and Dutch Official Development Assistance.


Michael Kugelman is the Senior Associate for South Asia at the Woodrow Wilson Center, where he is responsible for research, programming, and publications on the region. His main specialty is Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan and U.S. relations with each of them. Mr. Kugelman’s work on South Asia has been published in Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, and TheWall Street Journal, among other outlets.


Kalsoom Lakhani is the Founder/CEO of Invest2Innovate (i2i), which operates in Pakistan. Kalsoom has trained young entrepreneurs, changemakers, and civil society leaders around the world and has spoken at the World Economic Forum, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. State Department, and the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. She has served as a D.C. Co-Ambassador for Sandbox (the Thousand Network), a global network of innovators under 30.


Riaz Siddiqi is the Board Chair of the American Pakistan Foundation and a Founder and Managing Partner at Denham Capital and brings over 35 years of experience to the firm in the energy and asset management fields. Prior to joining Denham in 2004, he was President and CEO of Capstone Global Energy, and before that he held executive positions at Cinergy Capital and Trading and other Cinergy companies.
